Verify the release before installation

Every public image should be identifiable and verifiable before it is written to a drive.

Version number, publication date and exact file size.
A SHA-256 checksum that can be compared with the downloaded file.
Release notes with changes, known limitations and verified hardware.
The same release through Google Drive, magnet link and torrent file.

These details will appear here when the first downloadable image has been verified.

Check preliminary system requirements

After downloading

Write the image to a USB drive or external disk. On Windows, we recommend Rufus. Simply copying the file is not enough. Writing the image erases the entire selected drive.

Then run Prepperpoint from the drive or use it to install the system on the compatible computer’s hard drive or SSD. Installation erases the selected internal drive.

Wireless sharing requires Wi-Fi hardware with hotspot support. The magnet and torrent options require a torrent client and available peers.
